Styrofoam and sticks series / 2022-23
This group of work primarily consists of collected material, leftovers from construction sites, and sticks shaped by beavers. In both instances waste material left behind by their creator, may it be a construction worker or an animal. These residual objects determine the dimensions of the artworks. A recurring theme in my artistic practice is using highly synthetic material, such as styrofoam and other plastics, and natural materials, wood, beeswax, shells and rocks. The color, texture and creation of these materials are almost polar opposite. As a way of trying to grasp the complex world we live in I combine these contradicting materials into playful sculptures.
